The cash register guideline was published by the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) on 26 November 2010. It is therefore also called the “Cash Register Directive 2010” and regulates the requirements for modern cash register systems (electronic cash registers, proprietary cash register systems, PC cash register systems) that were acquired in the period from 26.11.2010 to 31.12.2019 and are not upgradeable in the sense of the Cash Register Act. Cash registers that meet these requirements may be used for the last time until Dec. 31, 2022.
Since 01.01.2018, the tax authorities are authorized to carry out an unannounced cash inspection at any time.
